Thanks for stopping over...The trifle...Dear Louise,
Thanks for stopping over...The trifle was delicious, just perfect for a nice treat. Please send down some of that cool weather here. We are still very hot, and yesterday it was so humid, it was horrible. I am sure if you spoke to your sister she would have told you that the heat is still here. I also do hope that your veggies will be ok.
I agree that the Christmas spirit should be around us all the time. We have never celebrated Christmas in July either, but I do know they have so many sales with the labels Christmas in July. I think that relative is correct when she said that she thought Jesus was born in the summer. It is said that it was very hot at that time, when he was born, and the summer. The Catholic Pope proclaimed that we should celebrate his birth according to the winter solstice, This was done, many, many years ago and it stuck. So it truly was a manmade holiday according to the time of year. I wish I had one of those Limoncello Raspberry Cocktails right now as well. So glad that you enjoyed this post, dear friend. Have a blessed week...
Dottie :)Dottiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12088546024012627842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034365797555822466.post-15958784921739421092014-07-28T22:05:36.467-04:002014-07-28T22:05:36.467-04:00What a heavenly Raspberry Trifle, Dottie! It has gotten so cool I'm actually worried about the vegetable garden.

I never knew about the story of Christmas in Juy. Very interesting, I must say. I too think the spirit of Christmas should be year long but I must admit also, I have never celebrated Christmas in July.

I remember a long time ago one of my relatives wanted to celebrate Christmas in July but, she was a strong believer in thinking Jesus was born in July...Just saying...

To top off that trifle with a Limoncello Raspberry Cocktail would be just perfect. I kinda wish I had it in front of me right now:) Thanks for sharing, Dottie...~~louise~~https://www.blogger.com/profile/07335196139849995706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034365797555822466.post-45793636760193607972014-07-28T14:22:56.629-04:002014-07-28T14:22:56.629-04:00Dear Alida, I agree, Christmas is a special time o...Dear Alida, I agree, Christmas is a special time of year...Family time, food time, and we can't forget about our faith, that is the real reason for the season as they say. Yes, it is very hot here, but the humidity is really what is even worse than the heat. That is what I hate. The weather is very strange lately. You can't seem to figure it out anymore. So happy for you that you are in Italy with your family. A wonderful change for you and your children must be thrilled. Thank you Alida for your visit and your lovely comment. Hope that your stay is a fun one and make memories to take back to the UK. I agree of course, the spirit of Christmas should be all year long. It brings people together and they seem to be happier and nicer to each other at that time of the year. That is what the world needs now, is the Christmas Spirit! Thanks for enjoying the recipes, and I second that motion about Limoncello! Hope that you have a blessed weekend with your family. I concept of being with family and the cooking and sharing of good times.
If this brings families together it should be Christmas everyday.
Beautiful recipes. Here on Long Island, we also have sales the day after Thanksgiving, but they also have sales with Christmas in July throughout the whole month. Yes, I agree, would be nice to have Christmas anytime, as you know I love Christmas so I would't mind when it was. The Raspberry Trifle can be used at any time of the year, so I thought this would be perfect for both, (Christmas & Summer) especially that the month of July is also Berry Month. The cocktail is also a perfect one for any time, but I enjoy the raspberries, love all berries.
Sounds like you have been having a wonderful time with the children and family. Camping on the lake must be such a fun time. Reno and seeing family is a great idea before school starts..Hope that you have a fabulous time when you go.
Looking forward to seeing your posts and recipes when you get back to it. Thank you again...have a blessed weekend...
Dottie :) Dottiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12088546024012627842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034365797555822466.post-27175171855333486312014-07-25T17:40:35.246-04:002014-07-25T17:40:35.246-04:00Good evening Dottie ,
