Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate” Cake & Hershey’s “Classic Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies”

Welcome to “Wordless Tuesday!” The first full day of autumn! Today I have two mouthwatering recipes which I know you will love…….. Enjoy!  

Who can resist the aroma of fresh baked cakes and cookies wafting through the house? Whichever you choose to bake, you’re sure to please family and friends with these true classics from Hershey’s kitchen. Beautiful to look at and even better to eat as today is “National Chocolate Day!” 



1. Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate” Cake

Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
“Perfectly Chocolate” cake frosting (recipe follows)

Directions:
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans. Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with "Perfectly Chocolate" frosting.   Yield: 12 servings

"Perfectly Chocolate” Frosting

Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
2/3 cup Hershey’s Cocoa
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. Makes about 2 cups frosting.


Other Variations:
One Pan Cake: Grease and flour 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Heat oven to 350° F. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely. Frost.

Three Layer Cake: Grease and flour three 8-inch round baking pans. Heat oven to 350°F. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost.

Bundt Cake: Grease and flour 12-cup fluted tube pan. Heat oven to 350°F. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 50 to 55 minutes. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Frost.

Cupcakes: Line muffin cups with paper bake cups. Heat oven to 350°F. Fill cups 2/3 full with batter. Bake 22 to 25 minutes. Cool completely. Frost. About 30 cupcakes.

2. Hershey’s “Classic Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies”



Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups (11.5-oz. pkg.) Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)





Directions:
Heat oven to 375°F. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Drop by teaspoons onto un-greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Yield: about 5 dozen cookies.

    1. Hi Kristy, thanks for stopping over. I must say that chocolate is my downfall. I love it! But like you I haven't made anything of chocolate like this for a long while.   2. You are tempting me here Dottie! Who can resist a chocolate cake like this!
    It has risen really well and I like the rich filling in the middle.
    And you biscuits look moreish and addictive. You have been very busy baking! My husband would like me to bake more with chocolate. Now I got some inspiration here. Ciao!

  3. Hi Dottie, today is National Chocolate Day? Wow! did not know that...and to think you honored it with our best Hershey's chocolate?...two fave recipes. I thank you for that! My daughter made the same Hershey's chocolate cake for a special Birthday cake, for my granddaughter's 13th B-day, and I decorated it. Don't have the cake recipe on hand, and I also love the Hershey's chocolate chips for the cookies, better than Nestle's!

They are amazing. I have made cookies before with Toll House chips, but I have to say Hershey's chips are the best, I agree! Sounds like a great B-day for your granddaughter's 13 year.     National Chocolate Day , well I dare say I make chocolate chip cookies this morning , I only use Hershey's chocolate ( is there any other kind when you want your dish to be perfect) My girls will love baking this cake .
